Hello,
I just came from the Rickman Homestead webpage and wanted to introduce
myself. I am Gregory Stephen Rickman, son of Frank D. Rickman. I am from
Houston, Tx, although my father is from Murray, Ky. His father, Hayden
Olive Rickman was from Tennessee, as were most of his relatives.
I am the youngest of five: Richard Rickman, David Rickman, Stephanie
(Rickman) Coates, Frank D. Rickman, Jr. and me.
I would be very curious to know if you have any Rickman relatives from
Ky or Tn. and would like to see a complete Rickman geneology if you have
constructed one.
I am currently in Ann Arbor, Michigan getting my law degree. Richard
also lives here in Ann Arbor. Frank and Frank Jr. are still in Houston
and David just had a son in Paris France

Hi, Miss Rae.
It's great to hear from you. I think I qualify as a "long-lost" Rickman. I've had little contact at all with my father's side of the family, and then only with the tiny clutch of immediate family. I'll get some info together and send to both you and Russell. If he wants,
he can put it on the site--or just archive it for the reunion. BTW, I grew up in Morristown, TN, about 40 miles NE of Knoxville, on I-81. I've been to Fort Campbell, near your Dover home several times, but never to Dover.
God bless you, Jack

Robert Whitaker
Hello,
My name is Robert E. Whitaker, I am trying to put my history together and have run into a dead end. My great grand father is Willie Calvin Whitaker, born in Chadwick, MO. in 1893. He died in 1974 in El Paso, TX. I cannot find any family history before him. I have a death certificate that gives his mothers name as "Martha (unknown)". I read your website and saw that some of your relatives had spouse named Martha. Long shot to say the least, but I am stuck. Would you please share some of your Whitaker Family history? I would like to see if there is any relation.
Sincerely,Robert Whitaker Colorado Springs, CO
My family branch descended from Jesse Rickman - Merritt Rickman - JohnDavid Rickman - Jesse Rickman (Grandfather) - David Lane Rickman (Father). It seems John David moved to Colorado and started that branch of the family prior to the depression era. That part of the family moved on west. It wasn't until the early 90's that I found our wonderful family in Cowee, North Carolina and Hendersonville North Carolina.
Now it seems there is a new Mid Western connection. It will be wonderful to get better acquainted.
Sincerely,
Lane D. Rickman

Fuqua History From William C. Bradford
Hi, Elleen. I think we're cousins of some sort. My Gr-grandfather was Richard Booker Fuqua, Elias' older brother. He Died in Lyon Co. Ks in 1880. I met a woman by the last name of Rickmon when I was 7 or 8 ( around 1950), she was visiting my grandmother here in Topeka, Ks. Unfortunately I can't remember her first name. I think that I have a picture of her somewhere in a box of old family photos. We moved recently after living in the same home for 25 yrs., so I'll have to do some digging to find it. I hope in the future that we can compare notes on our respective branches of the Fuqua family

Rae Thank you also for your response.
I was in Rome Ga on business for the first time in my life a few weeks ago. My client suggested that I stop by the library as they had a good genelo. dept. I was able through that to find information on my uncle Joe Rickman. I met briefly a second cousin who was a court house guard. His name was Roy Rickman. Tommy Rickman is the current Sherriff ,I did not met him but he would be a grandson of Joe Rickman.
I have always had contact with my aunt and cousins in Morristown, Tn .Kim Bacon Henry is my second cousin and granddaughter of Mable Rickman Bacon. We stay in touch.
I was disappointed that the person I met beiefly in Rome seemed not interested in much beyond a hand shake. There seems to be a lot of Rickmans in that area, I guess I was just another one .
I am more commonly know by Rick rather that Wilbur my age is 59. I have one older sister Linda Rickman Brewer age 61. She lives also in the Nashville area.I also have one son Eric Shane Rickman age 29. Our mother is also alive at age 94+ she is Mary Sanders Rickman. Our father Wilbur Sr. died in 1955 when I was 10 and sister was 12. He was age 62 at his death.
best regards,
Rick
My father was Wilbur Edgar Rickman who died in 1955 at age 62 in Nashville TN. His father was Marion Young Rickman who lived in Morristown Tn. He had four sons and a daughter. Mable Rickman Bacon died in Morristown TN a couple of years ago. I have never had any contact with any Rickmans other that Mable Rickman Bacon. I recently found several Rickmans in Rome Ga. that are decentants for my fathers brother Joe Rickman. Behond the above mentioned I really have no history or knowledge of Rickmans that would be apart of my fathers family

From Rae to Rick
I just found this entry from our cousin, Liz Strooksberry Myers, she is living in Long Beach Ca. Marion Young Rickman 1864-1938 is her Great Grandfather. Which is Your Grandfather if I'm reading it correctly. Do the dates for Marion Young Rickman match what you have.?
You and I are related through Marion Young Rickman's Grandfather, John William Rickman 1795-1841. Which is my 3rd Great Grandfather.
I'm sending this off to Liz also. Great to have you in the family
Cuz Rae
From Ruth Dilling in Clover,SC.
Marion Young's father was John W. Rickman Jr, and one of his sisters was Margaret
Elizabeth Rickman who married William Joshua Towe. Marie Towe McClure was
from this line and was a decicated genealogist. She died a couple of years
ago and I believe her material went to the Salisbury NC library. I have not
had opportunity to go over there to review it but plan to do so this summer.
My line is from John W. Rickman Jr's uncle, Martin Rickman. I live near
Charlotte but visit Asheville regularly and volunteer at Old Buncombe County
